For a Junior Tailoring Studio at the Rhode Island School of Design, I made a women's size 8 tailored jacket for our first assignment. This tailored piece gave me experience working with wool, a fabric I have not used before in apparel design.
I made all of the patterns for the jacket, which includes the self, the lining, and the fusible interfacing used to give the piece more structure. Along with developing my pattern making abilities, I was able to get experience working with a button-hole machine, creating welt pockets, making a lapel and collar with bias tape along the roll line, and making a standard vent in the back of the blazer. This piece really developed my construction skills and attention to detail within apparel design and pattern making. I worked on this jacket throughout February and March of 2023.
